Are You Confident in God and His Design for Your Life?

Are you confident in God and his design for your life? God didn’t create us to walk around with our shoulders slumped and our heads down. He made us feel capable of carrying out our God-given purpose.

Sometimes it’s easy to lose sight of our purpose when we have a constant view of our own failures. But even when we can’t see it, his perfect design in us remains. He has given each of us unique gifts and skills to use with confidence for his glory

As Christians, the concept of self-confidence can feel prideful or boastful. In some ways, this is true, as over-confidence can turn into pride. But, there’s good news. If we place our confidence in Christ Jesus, then we build our confidence on the solid foundation of honoring who he made us be, rather than our own striving. God-confidence is a beautiful thing.

Have you ever met someone who has the smile of Jesus? A few people I have met over the years are radiating God’s love. They are so confident in who they are in Christ, but it’s not boastful or arrogant in any sense. It is just the love of God radiating from them. Let me tell you—it is one of the most attractive qualities to me. That is what I want to be like!

Place Your Confidence in Jesus

Your confidence comes from God’s love for you, not your performance. When you feel like you aren’t good enough, remember who God says you are. When you are confident in God, you are not as easily shaken by the storms of life that come.

  • You are a child of God
  • You are loved beyond measure
  • You are incredibly unique and special
  • God gives us the strength we need every day
  • His grace is sufficient for you

Sometimes, I change the “you’s” to “I’s” which creates powerful affirmations.

  • I am a child of God
  • I am loved beyond measure
  • I am incredibly unique and special
  • God gives me the strength I need every day
  • His grace is sufficient for me

I encourage you to write these down and say them out loud when you need a confidence boost. Even when you don’t believe, speaking it will begin to change the way you think about who God made you. Keep saying it until it starts to become your reality. God really does love you that much.

What the Bible Says About Confidence

Here are a few verses that you can read and know that you can have complete confidence in Christ!

Philippians 4:13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

I’m always amazed that though Paul endured tremendous hardships, he knew with confidence that God would provide him with the strength he needed to get through.

2 Timothy 1:7 For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid but gives us power, love, and self-discipline.

The word timid means showing a lack of courage, which is the exact opposite of confidence. God’s Spirit living inside you enables you to do what you think you are not humanly capable of doing.

Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.

We can be confident, not discouraged or afraid because the Lord our God will be with us wherever we go.
